Tendon Injuries

What can we achieve?

Procedures

Pain: Mild to moderate

Scars

In most cases we can repair the tendon injury through the same wound that caused it, so very little extra scaring is expected.

If extra incisions are needed they will be planned to ensure the best aesthetic and functional outcome

Some cases could need grafting of tendons that are taken from other areas aside from the injured one, resulting in small inconspicuous scars on some other area of the body

Recovery

Usually, three weeks of splint immobilization are needed

Some chronic injuries will require up to six weeks of immobilization

Patients should start rehabilitation immediately after surgery

Most activities are usually allowed 6-8 weeks after surgery

Complex cases could require more than one surgery
