Hand and Wrist Fractures

What can we achieve?

Procedures

Pain: Mild to Moderate

Scars

None in case of closed reduction

When open reduction is needed, there will be scars in the injured region.

Scars are always placed in a position that will avoid postoperative function impairment

Recovery

Internal fixation with plates and screws: usually start active movement immediately (non strenuous activities)

Pin fixation and external fixation: require not using the extremity for about six weeks

Most patients need post-op rehabilitation to achieve the best possible functional results

When the fracture does not involve joint surfaces, recovery tends to be very good

Most patients return to normal activities (including strenuous activity) within two months after surgery.
